The three fundamentals for cleaning and disinfecting…

1. Understand the difference…
Cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting. These are terms that are used a lot and it’s important when training your team that everyone knows the difference between the terminology.

2. The two-step process…
Cleaning & Disinfecting is a two-step process. This is hugely critical and is something that has previously been overlooked. To ensure the disinfectant is effective, surfaces must be cleaned thoroughly to remove dirt and grime first, then disinfected.

3. Understand dwell times and adhere to them…
“Dwell time” or “contact time” refers to the amount of time a sanitizer or disinfectant must be in contact with the surface for it to be effective. These can vary from 30 seconds to 15 minutes.
