What is Fogging?

Fogging is mainly used to apply a disinfectant, Biocide, Pesticide or Fungicide. A fog or “ULV” ultra low volume droplets are created by the equipment.

Surface based, airborne pathogens are destroyed through vaporisation, so furniture is not required to be moved for the treatment to be carried out.

Fogging is a quick, easy and effective method of disinfecting large areas with minimum disruption.

What disinfectant can I use?

There are numerous chemicals than can be used through fogging machines. It is crucial to review the details to ensure it is safe to use and will be effective against the application you are carrying out, run the product by the machine manufacturer prior to use.

We recommend the following,

  • non-irritant
  • water based
  • non-toxic
  • non-corrosive

Is it really necessary?

Neither fogging or spraying will eliminate the need for the surfaces to be cleaned first.

Clean first, disinfect second.

Fogging is best used for large areas that require disinfecting. It would also be used on a site that has had an outbreak or suspected case of a virus.

But it is important to take note that this is part of a 2-4 stage clean.
